Kell Park

Kell Park Reserve, situated near the Albany Village Library, is renowned for its playground featuring a pirate ship and flying fox, as well as its community of free-range Bantam chickens that have inhabited the park for over three decades. These chickens served as the inspiration for the rooster depicted in the Albany Village logo and the bronze rooster sculpture at Albany Village Square. However, as Albany underwent urbanization, the chickens faced growing disfavor and became subjected to ongoing mistreatment, leading to plans for their removal. The Albany Village Business Association expressed disappointment over the chickens' removal, as they were considered a unique attraction to the area. Subsequently, the Association pursued a proposal to reintroduce poultry to the Center, but as of now, this initiative has not come to fruition.
